If you're reading this, then I guess the blog is officially live.

I've been wanting to start writing for quite a while, but like many projects, it kept getting pushed to the bottom of the list. Tax deadlines, client work, and the day-to-day demands of running a business always seemed to come first. Eventually I realized there would never be a "perfect" time, so here we are.

Since this is the first post, I thought I'd introduce myself.

A Little About Me

My name is Jeff Purtee, and I've been a CPA since 2019. I genuinely enjoy helping people solve problems. That's one of the reasons I love this profession. Every business owner has a unique situation, and there are usually several ways to approach a problem. Working through those options and helping clients make informed decisions is the part of accounting that I find most rewarding.

Outside the office, I'm a husband, a father, and someone with far too many hobbies. I enjoy gardening, hunting, woodworking, and spending time with our dogs, Dickel and Boone. I'm naturally curious, so I'm always learning something new or finding another project to tackle.

My firm operates a little differently than many traditional accounting firms. Most of my client meetings happen through video calls, phone calls, secure messaging, and email. While I do have an office for in-person meetings, technology allows me to work efficiently with clients wherever they are. My goal has always been to make working with your CPA as convenient as possible without sacrificing personal service.

Why Start a Blog?

Because I answer many of the same questions every year. Instead of keeping those conversations limited to one client at a time, I thought it would be helpful to share them here. You'll find articles about taxes, bookkeeping, business ownership, financial decisions, technology, and the occasional lesson I've learned along the way.

My hope is that these posts help you make better decisions, avoid common mistakes, and maybe even save you a little money. If a topic is useful to one client, chances are it's useful to many others.

Thanks for stopping by and reading the very first post. I appreciate you taking the time.

One of the goals for this blog is to answer real questions from real people. If there's a tax, bookkeeping, or business topic you'd like to see covered in a future article, I'd love to hear about it. If one person has the question, there's a good chance others are wondering the same thing.

Now that this thing is finally on, let's see where it goes.

Meet Jeff

Thanks for reading! I'm Jeff Purtee, owner of Purtee CPA, PLLC, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

I work with individuals and small business owners to simplify bookkeeping, navigate tax compliance, identify planning opportunities, and make better business decisions. My goal is to build long-term relationships by providing practical advice that helps clients move forward with confidence.

When I'm away from the office, you'll usually find me gardening, woodworking, hunting, or spending time with my wife, our children, and our two dogs, Dickel and Boone. I'm naturally curious and enjoy solving problems, whether they're financial, business-related, or part of my latest DIY project.

I hope you find these articles helpful, and if there's a topic you'd like me to cover in a future post, I'd love to hear from you.
